The Master’s degree program provides a platform for students to enhance their career prospects and has a particular focus on developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare them for a professional career in IT sector.

The Master’s degree program provides specialization in Information Management Systems.

The Master’s degree program in System Analysis, Information Control and Processing lasts for 1.5 years. Graduates receive an MSc (Eng) qualification upon completion of their studies.

• ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
  This course is intended for students who have already completed a Bachelor’s degree or other undergraduate program equivalent to the first stage of higher education in Belarus and have a Diploma or Certificate in a relevant area. Applicants to the Master’s degree program in System Analysis, Information Control and Processing are expected to have a computer science background.
• PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • To possess skills in using methods and models of factor and component analysis.

  • To be able to identify business needs and improve efficiency of business processes of optimal information management.
• STRUCTURE
  The academic year is divided into two semesters followed by exam sessions. Teaching is delivered via a combination of lectures, practical and laboratory classes and includes both theoretical and practical components.
• MAIN COURSES

  Factor and Component Analysis: preparing data for statistical analysis, statistical data analysis methods, basic data mining tasks. Application of factor analysis to classification tasks, the essence of principal component analysis, application of the principal component analysis to recognition problems. You will be able to conduct factor analysis using the principal component analysis and the maximum likelihood method.

  Data Warehousing and OLAP Systems: data warehouses, OLAP concept and data model, data warehousing, OLAP system architecture, technical aspects of multidimensional data storage, multidimensional data analysis by using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), etc. You will be able to design the data warehouse structure and identify eventual applications of data mining techniques.

  Startup Project Management: functional problems of project management and their solutions, theoretical fundamentals of startup business development, funding instruments for startup projects, analysis and risk management for startup projects; startup team management and business partners. You will be able to manage projects using special tool, divide activities into separate interdependent tasks, estimate time and resources required to complete the task, work within a development team, carry out a feasibility study of the project and visualize the results of the analysis.

  Theory of Optimal Systems: extreme values of functions of one and several variables, extreme values of functionals (calculus of variations), nonlinear programming, dynamic programming, system optimization by statistical criteria (Wiener and Kalman filtering). You will be able to identify the main features of methods of optimal control theory and formulation of problems of optimal systems, analyze processes occurring in optimal control systems and apply the acquired knowledge to specific technical systems in terms of formulating and solving optimization problems.

  Modern Computer Vision Systems: fundamentals of image processing, image representation, feature extraction and matching, motion tracking, detection and localization of object classes, machine learning and image classification. You will be able to use mathematical algorithms for practical purposes (in particular, by means of modern computer-based systems); methodological knowledge and research skills to solve problems of research, scientific and pedagogical, educational and methodical, organizational and managerial as well as innovative activities; software packages and computer graphics tools.

  Analytical Programming Systems: introduction to Python, fundamentals of machine learning, machine learning methods, identifying data dependencies, big data analytics. The course is designed to help you acquire the ability to understand and formalize the task of data analysis, use modern machine learning methods for practical solution of data analysis problems and create new machine learning methods.

  Experimental Design: basic concepts and definitions of experimental design, fundamentals of experimental design theory, statistics for analysis of experimental data, planning and processing the results of single factor experiments, multi-factor two-level experiments, etc. You will be able to plan and conduct experimental research, process the results of experiments, explore new projects and solutions and assess their innovative potential.

  Non-Classical Logics: many-valued logic, fuzzy logic, contradictory logical calculus, temporal logic, probabilistic logic, the logic proposed by R. Reiter, modal logic, the Dempster-Shafer theory. You will be able to analyze complex causal relationships when making decisions in systems based on non-classical logic.

  Decision-Making Support Models and Methods: methodological fundamentals for development of a decision support system, decision making methods, expert decision support methods, fuzzy expert systems. You will be able to perform structuring, formalization and algorithmization procedures in tasks of modeling and optimization of managerial decisions and solve complex system management problems under conditions of multivariance, multiple criteria, uncertainty and risk.

  Innovative Computer Security Technologies: operating system security, approaches to development of a computer security model, theoretical foundations of access control, object access control, intrusion detection and prevention, domain infrastructure engineering. You will be able to choose a functional structure of the information security system, substantiate the principles of provision of technical, software and information support of information security and organize improvement, modernization and unification of information security technologies

• INTERNSHIP
  While working on the Master’s degree, students are required to undertake an internship. The internship is aimed at consolidating the knowledge and skills gained throughout the theoretical part of the course, mastering research skills, solving social and professional tasks and applying innovative technologies, etc.
• RESEACH AND THESIS

  As part of the Master’s degree program, students are required to write and defend a thesis and demonstrate their ability to perform independent research.

  The Master’s student’s research involves the following:

  • conducting all types of research;
  • participation in scientific and practical conferences, round tables, discussions;
  • participation in research competitions;
  • carrying out independent studies related to the Master’s thesis.

  When preparing theses, Master’s students must demonstrate the ability to solve tasks of professional activity, the ability to integrate scientific knowledge, as well as give scientific justification for their points of view.

  A Master’s thesis is aimed at solving a theoretical, experimental or applied problem associated with the design of control systems in various areas, development and optimization of control algorithms, formalization of models of control objects, creating methods for analyzing behavior of systems, estimation of their parameters, developing new ways of presenting, evaluating and classifying information.

  A Master’s thesis must include a literature review and a research component reflecting advanced professional and specialized competencies of a Master’s student in accordance with the area of study. The research component should be at least 50% of the overall document.

• ASSESSMENT

  The following assessment forms are used to diagnose competencies:

  • oral;
  • written;
  • oral and written;
  • technology-based.

  They include colloquia, presentations, conference papers, oral and written exams, business game-based assessment, written homework assignments, written laboratory reports, essays, review papers, research reports, publication of academic papers, project method-based assessment, computer-based tests, etc.

  The grading options are numerical grades or pass/fail. 10 is the highest grade achievable and 1 is the lowest. The minimum passing grade is 4. Some courses are offered on a pass/fail basis.

At present, holders of the Master’s degree in System Analysis, Information Control and Processing are in high demand and can find employment in a wide range of industries.

Design: use of modern methods of designing technical and software control systems in various areas, use of design automation tools, drawing up design documentation.

Innovation: development of plans and programs for organizing innovation activities, feasibility studies for innovation projects in professional activities.

RESEARCH LABORATORY OF DATA TRANSFER NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES

The laboratory is equipped with the latest Cisco equipment used to build information networks. Students learn to design and set up their own computer networks of any architecture.

IT LABORATORY

The IT Laboratory project has been implemented by the Mogilev Development Agency in cooperation with the Belarusian-Russian University. The main goal of the project is to train specialists in the field of information technology.

COMPUTER LABORATORIES

The laboratories are equipped with modern computers with licensed software. All workstations are interconnected by a local area network with high-speed Internet access.

International applicants with diplomas issued by foreign higher education institutions, which confirm the level of education required for the Master’s degree program, are admitted to the university if their diplomas are recognized in the Republic of Belarus in accordance with the specified procedure (http://nihe.bsu.by/index.php/prizn-in-doc).

International applicants and stateless people (their representatives) applying to institutions of higher education to get a Master’s degree will need to submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

• an application addressed to the head of the institution of higher education made on a specified application form;
• an original diploma of higher education and transcripts issued in the Republic of Belarus, or an academic certificate indicating academic disciplines, the number of hours/credits for each discipline, and grades (points) issued in a foreign state, as well as certificates of recognition of an academic certificate issued in a foreign state and evaluation of its equivalency or compliance with the academic certificate of the Republic of Belarus confirming that a person has received the higher education equivalent to the first stage of higher education in the Republic of Belarus;
• documents confirming the Belarusian nationality (for Belarusians who are citizens of foreign countries or stateless people);
• a conclusion of the medical advisory commission issued by a territorial health organization of the Republic of Belarus (after compulsory medical examination as requested by a higher education institution);
• a medical certificate of overall health condition and a certificate of absence of HIV infection issued by the official health authority of the country the applicant comes from;
• a copy of an identity document certified in accordance with the specified procedure. If documents are submitted by a representative, a document certifying the representative’s identity must be presented, and a copy of the document certifying the applicant’s identity certified in accordance with the specified procedure must be submitted.
• 4 photos 3x4 cm.

Notarized translation into one of the official languages of the Republic of Belarus must be attached to the documents in a foreign language, if they are legalized or apostilled.

Documents required for the Master’s degree program for international applicants are accepted as they are received, but no later than October 15.
