The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1961. The first students graduated from the faculty in 1965. In 1963, the Faculty opened two departments "Machine Building Technology, Metal-Cutting Machines and Tools", "Equipment and Technology of Welding Manufacture". At present the Faculty includes 6 departments.
Mechanical engineering graduates are among the most versatile engineers.

"Automation of Technological Processes and Production": "Automation of Technological Processes of Components and Assemblies Manufacture". Qualification - automation engineer.
"Machine Building Technology Equipment": "Metal-Cutting Machines";"Tool Manufacturing". Qualification - engineer.
"Equipment and Technology of Welding Manufacture": "Manufacture of Welded Structures". Qualification - engineer.
- Improvement of finishing treatment of surfaces of machine parts and production accessories.
- Development of technological processes of strengthening cutting tools and machine parts by exposure to low-energy ions.
- Examination of welded structures performance and development of resource-saving technologies of welding and control.
- Development of methodology of manufacture and examination of phase composition, structure and properties of composite materials obtained by the method of mechanical alloying.
