The competition in the category ‘The Best Graduation and Research Paper of Students in the Field of Management and Quality Control" has been held in the Republic of Belarus since 2007. The competition is aimed at raising the level of specialist training in the field of management and quality control; assessing the level of student research at universities; encouraging students to participate in educational, scientific and practical activities; promoting best practices in the field of management and quality control; supporting talented undergraduates and Master’s students, motivating supervisors of graduation and research papers.
The assessment of the level of papers was performed according to the following criteria: relevance of the topic and independence of the approach to its development, the author's point of view on the problem, the ability to use scientific research methods, validity of the conclusions and recommendations, practical usefulness, the rate of publication and implementation of findings into the economy and the educational process.
The Belarusian-Russian University was presented by the graduation project of the student of the Physical Methods of Control Department Sergey Leonidovich Melnikov entitled ‘Designing an Automated Universal Scanner and Developing an Ultrasonic Inspection Method for Butt Welds of Line Pipes’ (research supervisor S. S. Sergeev). At the competition the project scored the maximum number of points and was awarded the Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus.
The research was done on request by the company LLC NDT-Engineering, Minsk, and was a part of the research work of the Physical Methods of Control Department. The findings are characterized by scientific and technical novelty and have been implemented at LLC NDT-Engineering (Minsk), OOO Tekhanalitikal (Minsk) and into the educational process of the Belarusian-Russian University. They were presented at four scientific and technical conferences and published in six papers and three abstracts.
The diplomas were awarded at the National Library on June 6, 2018. The awards ceremony was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus V. I. Semashko, Minister of Education I. V. Karpenko, Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization V. V. Nazarenko.
