WORKPLACE TOUR FOR STUDENTS MAJORING IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION
The on-site interdisciplinary lecture on the courses ‘Road Surveying and Design’, ‘Road Construction’, ‘Road Traffic Organization and Safety’ was held at P 122 Mogilev-Krichev-Kostiukovichi Road, which is currently under reconstruction, for the third- and fourth-year students majoring in ‘Automobile Roads’ on April 8.
The lecture was delivered by the senior lecturers of the Department of Automobile Roads T. A. Poliakova, A. M. Sergeyeva together with leading specialists of Road Construction Service No. 14 of OAO Road Construction Trust No. 3 P.G. Krachev, the site supervisor, and S.N. Sokolovskaya, the lead quality control engineer.
The students visited the construction site where they got acquainted with the design solutions for reconstruction of the road and studied the design and as-built documentation. Besides, they were informed about the quality management system used at the facility.
The students observed some technical operations of clearing the road construction area, removing the fertile layer and the existing engineering networks, building culverts and the road bed. The students showed particular interest in operations performed with the use of modern geodetic equipment and road construction machines with GPS control of working parts.
In addition, the students visited the Konstantinovskoye sand quarry, where sand is extracted by using hydro-mechanization with a suction dredger.
The visual information obtained at the construction site will help improve the proficiency level in specialized courses.
