In April, the results of the qualifying rounds of the 12th International Olympiad in Information Technologies ‘IT Planet 2018/19’ were summarized. The event is supported by a grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society and by the autonomous non-profit organization Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects (ASI) in the direction ‘Young Professionals’. During the qualifying rounds, participants competed remotely in 14 contests in the categories ‘Programming’, ‘Cloud Computing and Databases’, ‘Telecom’, ‘Mobile Platforms’, ‘Digital Creativity’, ‘Free Software and Robotics’ and ‘Unlimited Opportunities’. Participants of creative competitions had to develop projects according to the given task.
Students and young specialists from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Estonia took part in the qualifying rounds of the competition. In total, 13743 tests were completed, 1170 creative projects were submitted and 466 practical cases were solved. The student of the Belarusian-Russian University Anton Igorevich Shinkevich, majoring in 1-53 01 02 Automated Information Processing Systems, won second place in the Republic of Belarus in the graduation projects contest ‘Best Free Diploma’. His project was examined by experts of Ivannikov Institute for System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
