On September 2, a welcome event for new students “Hello Freshers!” was held outside the new educational building of the Belarusian-Russian University. New students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the university, its customs and traditions.
The program of the event was exciting and informative. Viktor Mikhailovich Pashkevich, Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, addressed the first-year students and congratulated them on becoming students of the Belarusian-Russian University. The new students were offered the opportunity to visit the laboratories of the new building and see how an electric car works. Besides, they were able to demonstrate their physical fitness by taking part in sporting activities, such as arm wrestling, basketball, football and air rifle shooting. In addition, an exhibition of scientific, sporting and creative achievements of the university was organized. The students had the opportunity to join music and dance groups, volunteer teams and sports clubs. The freshers were offered draniki (potato pancakes) and traditional pancakes cooked by students of the Faculty of Engineering and Economics. Besides, they were able to watch a concert performed by music and dance groups of the university. The atmosphere was warm and positive, and everyone has fond memories of the event.
Special thanks go to student volunteers, the staff of the Department of Extracurricular Activities and the university canteen, teachers of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the students’ trade union committee and the primary organization of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union for having created the festive atmosphere and for excellent support in organizing the event.
