Artur Koroteev and Aleksandr Lupachev, members of the Department of Welding Equipment and Technology, represented the Republic of Belarus at the technical workshop “Temper Bead Welding Process in Operating NPP's”, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The two-day workshop included six presentations; the working language of the event was English. The workshop was opened by Dohee Hahn, Director of the IAEA’s Division of Nuclear Power.
Artur Koroteev gave the presentation entitled “Development and Implementation of Advanced Welding and Refurbishment Technologies at Critical Energy Facilities of the Republic of Belarus”. The presentation dealt with the activities of the Department of Welding Equipment and Technology related to providing technical support in the fields of welding and non-destructive testing as well as developing and implementing technical solutions to ensure safety at the power facilities of the Belarusian NPP. In addition, some important issues on application of new welding technologies for materials prone to formation of tempered structures and softening along the fusion line, the development of IAEA regulatory documents in the fields of welding and repair of important metal structures of power units of reactor systems were discussed as well.
